There are five preseason games scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 10 including the Charlotte Hornets vs Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum. The Hornets are 1-1 this preseason, while the Grizzlies won their first preseason game on Monday night.
Charlotte opened its preseason with a 111-109 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. They followed that up by beating the Miami Heat 111-108 at the Spectrum Center on Tuesday. Coach Charles Lee used the same starting lineups in both games while increasing their minutes from the first game to the next.
On the other hand, the Grizzlies are coming off a 121-116 win over the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center. Ja Morant suffered a minor ankle injury and is now considered day-to-day. One of the problems for Memphis last season was they caught the injury bug and fans will be hoping for better fortune in that regard this campaign.

Charlotte Hornets vs Memphis Grizzlies preview
The Charlotte Hornets were part of many trades this offseason but didn't acquire any big names. The Hornets were more focused on getting future assets, while also re-signing Seth Curry and Miles Bridges. They also brought in veteran big man Taj Gibson and drafted Tidjane Salaün sixth overall.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies were fairly quiet in free agency and only parted ways with Ziaire Williams via trade. The Grizzlies are hoping to get back into contention with Ja Morant back into the fold. Their biggest move this summer was drafting Zach Edey, who looks like a perfect fit after just one preseason game.
The Grizzlies had such a bad campaign last season that they were swept by the Charlotte Hornets 2-0. Before last season, Memphis had won seven of the last 10 games against Charlotte since Jan. 23, 2019.

Charlotte Hornets vs Memphis Grizzlies prediction
The Grizzles are the slight favorites to beat the Hornets in their preseason game on Thursday night at FedEx Forum. Both coaches are expected to give additional minutes to their starters as they begin to ramp it up with the regular season less than two weeks away.
Fans should expect a competitive and close game since role and fringe players are trying to win rotation minutes and roster spots, respectively. At the end of the night, expect the Grizzlies to win and cover the spread.
