Having faced each other less than a few days ago, the Phoenix Suns hope the result is different this time when they host the Charlotte Hornets at the Footprint Center on Sunday. After the loss, the Suns went on to win their next two games. Meanwhile, the Hornets' last two outings had been postponed due to the LA wildfires.

The 115-104 win was not only the Hornets' only win in the New Year but also their first against the Suns since 2021. The last three seasons saw the Grand Canyon-based team sweep the Hornets in their nonconference matchups.

Music to the ears of Hornets fans is the fact that they have a healthy LaMelo Ball and a mostly clean bill of health ahead of the game. The only players ruled out for the Hornets are Tre Mann (Disc Irritation) and Grant Williams (ACL). A recent update stated that Mann would be two weeks away from returning to action and might start team activities soon.

Injury-wise for the Suns, it is a relatively empty list with only Royce O'Neale facing the late fitness test. The veteran forward was downgraded from doubtful to out on Saturday due to a left ankle sprain. His status will be known closer to tip-off.

With Bradley Beal accepting a role off the bench, the Suns' likely lineup ahead of the Sunday showdown would be Kevin Durant, Ryan Dunn, Mason Plumlee, Tyus Jones and Devin Booker.

Charlotte Hornets vs Phoenix Suns: Preview

Charles Lee’s work has been difficult this season, and the team has become stagnant in recent years, leaving fans worried about where much-needed consistency will come from.

They are currently 8-27 and sitting 13th in the Eastern Conference standings. With the team’s star players, LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, off the injury report, they will be quietly confident in the duo’s trickery and flair to get another win on Sunday.

As for the Suns, the recent back-to-back wins have gone some way to steady the ship, but their inconsistency shines through in the fact that prior to that they dropped four games in a row.

Off the court, they have a lot going on with trade rumors swirling around Bradley Beal. They are currently 18-19 in the stacked Western Conference, and a couple of consistent wins could see them leapfrog to sixth or seventh in the standings. They will be aiming to do just that in the upcoming games.
