The second half’s first quarter was a good period for both the teams as Chennai Slam scored 20 points and Pune 18. At first Chennai dominated, racing away to a 15-2 lead in the quarter. Then Pune struck back with a few 3 pointers from P. Vijay who helped the team maintain their upper hand.

The last quarter was a cocktail of nail biting play, theatrical drama and plenty of roaring from the crowd. Just like the third quarter, Chennai raced the quarter with 16-2, thanks largely to the efforts of Agu and Ram Kumar. But once again Pune made a comeback and covered the gap.

With three minutes remaining, the score was 67-68. Then Chennai made three fouls in a row which gave three two-shoot candies for Pune. Pune made all the 6 through the basket and took at 74-67 lead.

But a couple of fouls by Pune gave Chennai two double shoots in a row, which brought the score to 69-74. Then a couple of 2-pointers from Chennai made it 73-75, and tension soared all through the stadium.

That’s when a fight came up between the two teams’ players. Things became nasty when a Pune player threw the ball at a Chennai player, and after the intervention of the coaches, referees and the management, Pune Peshwas were given 3 technical shoots.

They made all the three, giving them a controversial but electrifying win.

Final Scorline: Chennai Slam 73 (Agu 18, Ramkumar 16, Aditya 10) lose to Pune Peshwas 78 (P. Vijay 20, Ajinkya 12).
