Chet Holmgren is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. Born in Minneapolis, Holmgren started playing basketball at a very young age, learning from his father, who was a former college basketball player. Playing for Minnehaha Academy during his high school tenure, Holmgren didn’t play much during his freshman season. In his sophomore season, he was promoted to the starting lineup. In the sophomore season, he averaged 18.6 points and 11 rebounds per game and led his school to its consecutive Class 2A state title. Holmgren committed to Gonzaga in 2021, where he had 14 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks, and six assists on his college debut. As a freshman in college, Holmgren averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game. Gonzaga went to the Final Four in the 2022 NCAA tournament where they lost to Kansas State. Holmgren declared for the 2022 NBA draft foregoing his eligibility in college.

In the 2022 NBA draft, Holmgren was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the second overall pick. This made Holmgren the highest-drafted player out of Gonzaga. Holmgren made his summer league debut and had 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and six blocks. In a Drew League, Holmgren suffered an ankle sprain and it was announced that Holmgren would miss the entire 2022-23 season. However, he made his regular-season debut on October 25, 2023, against the Chicago Bulls. Holmgren played all 82 regular season games for the Thunder in 2023\24 and averaged 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game as he was named in the NBA All-Rookie First team.
