Beijing - China’s Qiaodan Sportswear Co. Ltd. has sued NBA legend Michael Jordan for infringement on right of reputation and claimed $8 million compensation.
The Quanzhou court of the Fujian province received the file March 29 and accepted the lawsuit April 2 – a suit which also asked Jordan to stop the infringement and apologise to the company, reports Xinhua.
Jordan announced he had sued the Qiaodan company for using his name and image illegally Feb 23, 2012, and asked about $8 million compensation. The case was accepted by a Shanghai court, which has never held a hearing.
Jordan’s announcement came just a week before the Qiaodan Sportswear went public. The company’s IPO was suspended due to the suit.
