Cody Lee Martin is an American professional basketball player currently with the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA. Born on September 28, 1995, Martin is known for his versatility as a two-way role player.

Cody Martin started his journey to become a basketball professional alongside his twin brother Caleb Martin at Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina, before playing senior year at Oak Hill Academy.

In the 2019 NBA Draft, Martin was selected 36th overall in the second round by the Charlotte Hornets. Initially, Cody’s identical twin brother Caleb went undrafted but he was later signed by the Hornets. Cody and Caleb i.e. “Martin Twins” playing together for the Charlotte Hornets became quite popular among fans.

Over his five years of NBA career, Martin has excelled as a two-way role player. He has great athleticism, and attacks the rim to dunk ferociously. He also has a knack of going on a great shooting off the bench. Despite primarily serving in a role player capacity, he averaged a solid 26.6 minutes per game, contributing an average of 7.5 points, 4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Cody Martin's college basketball journey saw him play for two teams. From 2014 to 2016, he played for the NC State Wolfpack under coach Mark Gottfried. While playing there, Cody focused on improving his shooting and fundamentals, although his playing time was limited and his overall impact was not significant. Martin averaged underwhelming stats in his two years at NC State.

In 2017, Cody Martin decided to transfer to University of Nevada, where he played until 2019. Coincidentally, Cody’s second college basketball team was also known as the Wolfpack. His decision to move to Nevada was largely influenced by the opportunity to play under coach Eric Musselman. It was during his time at Nevada that Cody Martin experienced true growth as a two-way wing player as his skills developed to an NBA-caliber level.
