He played collegiate basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini Men's basketball team at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. He attended high school at Antelope High School which was in his hometown before transferring to a high school in Napa named Prolific Prep. He started to play basketball while in high school and was rated a three-star recruit before entering the college basketball scene.
