Collin Sexton is an American professional basketball player who was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft as the eighth overall pick. Sexton played one season of college basketball for the University of Alabama before declaring for the draft after his freshman year.

The Cavaliers drafted Sexton as they looked to rebuild their roster in the post-LeBron James era. Cleveland was coming off a 50-win season and NBA Finals appearance in 2017-18 but James had departed in free agency for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Cavaliers saw potential in the young and athletic Sexton to be a core piece of their future.

Sexton had a strong rookie season in the NBA in 2018-19, starting in all 82 games and averaging 16.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He scored in double figures in his first 15 NBA games, demonstrating consistency in scoring the ball at a high clip right away in his career. He was later named to the Rising Stars Game during the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago, replacing injured Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro.

The Rising Stars Game features the top first and second-year players in the NBA. Despite only being in his second season, Sexton had already emerged as one of the top young guards in the NBA. His selection to the Rising Stars Game was validation of the bright future Cleveland saw in him when they used a top-10 pick to draft him.

In 2022 Sexton was traded to the Utah Jazz along with Lauri Markkenen. In the season 2022-23, Sexton averaged 14.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Now in the 2023-24 seasonSexton has already played 13 games and he is averaging 12.4 points per game.
