He began his high school basketball career at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, before transferring to Pebblebrook High School in Mableton ahead of his junior year. With the Falcons, he emerged as a key player and led the team to the 2016 Georgia Region 3-6A title and a berth in the Class 6A state championship game by averaging 23 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He played two standout seasons for the Alabama Crimson Tide under head coach Avery Johnson from 2017 to 2018.
