Dallas Wings

The Dallas Wings are a professional women's basketball team based in Arlington, Texas, competing in the Western Conference of the esteemed Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). On July 23, 2015, WNBA league owners unanimously approved the relocation of the formerly Tulsa Shock franchise to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, where they now play home games at the College Park Center on the University of Texas at Arlington campus.

This storied franchise, which captured three WNBA titles as the Detroit Shock, has emerged as a consistent playoff contender over the past three seasons. Spearheaded by star guard Arike Ogunbowale and 2023 first-round draft pick Maddy Siegrist, the Wings have assembled a formidable, balanced roster poised to make a fourth consecutive postseason appearance and potentially go on a deep playoff run.

The franchise has a long and storied history. It was originally founded as the Detroit Shock in 1998 as one of the first expansion teams in the newly created WNBA. In their early years in Detroit, the Shock struggled to make the playoffs, only qualifying once in their first five seasons. However, fortunes turned around in 2003 when they had a stellar 25-9 regular season record. That same year, the Shock defeated the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Sparks to win their first WNBA championship.

The Shock remained a powerhouse for the next several years, making the WNBA Finals three straight seasons from 2006-2008. They won titles in 2006 over the Sacramento Monarchs and in 2008 over the San Antonio Silver Stars, but fell to the Phoenix Mercury in 2007.

In 2009, the franchise relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma and was renamed the Tulsa Shock, playing there for six seasons. The team then moved again in 2016 to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, taking on their current Dallas Wings name and logo.

The Wings struggled initially after the move but made the playoffs in 2017 and 2018. They drafted star guard Arike Ogunbowale in 2019 who has emerged as one of the league's top players. After some down years, the Wings returned to the postseason in 2021 under new head coach Latricia Trammell and advanced to the second round in 2023 before bowing out.

Skylar Diggins-Smith -

The 5'9" guard known as "Skylar Digging-Smith" was a talented scorer and playmaker for the Wings from 2013-2019. She made four WNBA All-Star teams (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018) and was the 2014 Most Improved Player. Diggins-Smith led the Wings to their first playoff appearance in 2015 with her great basketball IQ and ability to make the right decision on the court. Her scoring prowess and veteran leadership were key to many of the team's successes during her tenure in Dallas.

Swin Cash -

The 6' forward Swin Cash was a versatile and gritty player who starred for the Wings from 2002-2007 when they were still called the Detroit Shock. Cash is a four-time WNBA All-Star (2003, 2005, 2009, 2011) and won three WNBA championships. Her ability to score inside and out made her tough to guard. Cash was also a lockdown defender who ignited the team's transition game with her hustle. Her leadership and all-around skill set were invaluable assets.

Glory Johnson -

The 6'3" power forward Glory Johnson patrolled the paint for the Wings from 2012 to 2019. Johnson was a two-time WNBA All-Star in 2013 and 2014. She was an elite rebounder and interior scorer who physically overpowered opponents on both ends. Johnson steadily improved her game each year, demonstrating a commitment to getting better that greatly benefited the Wings. Her relentless effort around the basket made her a handful for opposing frontcourts.

Dallas Wings Owner

Bill Cameron is the principal owner of the Dallas Wings franchise. He has served as an officer of American Fidelity companies since 1986. Cameron is also a partial owner and board member for the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder.

He is the lead owner and chairman of the WNBA's Dallas Wings. Bill Cameron is actively involved in several industry and civic organizations. Cameron is the Chairman of the Amazon Conservation Team headquartered in Arlington, VA. He is a member of the Brookings Council and the Center for Strategic and International Studies Advisory Council for Global Strategy Institute.

Under Bill Cameron's ownership, the Wings have become a consistent playoff team looking to capture their first WNBA title.

Dallas Wings Head Coach

Latricia Trammell is the head coach of the Dallas Wings. Trammell previously served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks and the San Antonio Stars in the WNBA. The Oklahoma native had stints at Denton's Billy Ryan High School, the University of North Texas, and Texas Woman's University. At Oklahoma City University, she won back-to-back NAIA national championships in 2014 and 2015. After being an assistant for the Stars and Sparks, Trammell now leads the Dallas Wings into a season with high expectations.

Her lengthy coaching resume and history of success at various levels make Trammell a respected voice on the Wings' sideline. The team is counting on her leadership to guide them to a WNBA title.

Trammell is joined by two new assistant coaches April Schilling and Courtney Paris. They’ll join previously announced Assistant Coach Brandi Poole.

The Dallas Wings unveiled their 2023 WNBA Nike Rebel Edition Uniform which pays homage to the great state of Texas. The retro-inspired look features the team's Pegasus logo on the shorts and global logo on a belt buckle. Vibrant stripes highlight the strength, speed and unity of the Wings organization.

Dallas Wings Home Arena

The Dallas Wings play their home games at the College Park Center in Arlington. This home arena of Dallas Wings has a facility of 6,251 seats and has been home for the team since they have moved to Dallas.

Dallas Wings Tickets and Broadcasting

Currently, select Dallas Wings games air on Bally Sports Southeast and Bally Sports South regional sports networks. Some games also receive national television coverage on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, Ion Television, CBS, and CBS Sports Network.

For the 2024 season, the Wings have added Basketball Hall of Famers Sheryl Swoopes and Nancy Lieberman to their broadcast team. Swoopes and Lieberman will serve as analysts on Bally Sports Southwest, the team's local TV partner. Joining them will be veteran play-by-play voice, Ron Thulin, former NCAA and WNBA champion Fran Harris, and experienced sideline reporter ShaVonne Herndon to call all Wings games.
