Dalton Knecht is a professional basketball player who played as a shooting guard for the Tennessee Volunteers. Born on April 19, 2001, in Thornton, Colorado, Knecht started playing basketball at Prairie View High School.

For the college, Knecht selected Northern Colorado and Northeastern Junior College for his junior year. He developed his skills and ball-handling ability in his junior year before joining Tennessee for his senior year.

Beyond his offensive prowess, Dalton Knecht has also demonstrated exceptional defensive skills on the court. During the previous season with the Northern Colorado Bears, Knecht's exceptional performance was evident as he participated in 32 games, averaging an impressive 20.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. His shooting accuracy was remarkable, with a field goal percentage of 47.9%, including a remarkable 38.1% from beyond the three-point line.

After spending time with the Northern Colorado Bears, Knecht took advantage of his fifth-year eligibility and transferred to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville for the 2023–24 season.

Knecht transferred to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville to hone his skills and play under the guidance of head coach Rick Barnes. However, his experience at the college has been much more than just enhancing his defense.

Knecht's contributions during his senior year have been instrumental in propelling the Tennessee Volunteers to remarkable success. His outstanding play on the court, led the team to secure the SEC regular season championship in 2024. His success earned him Consensus first-team All-American, First Team All-SEC, SEC Newcomer of the Year and SEC Player of the Year in 2024.

Knecht's senior year statistics have been nothing short of impressive. He averaged an outstanding 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, showcasing his all-around skills on the court. On March 9, 2024, during his senior night, Knecht etched his name in the record books by setting a new career-high with an incredible 40-point performance, despite his team's 85–81 loss to the 15th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
