Dario Saric is a Croatian professional basketball player currently playing for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. Saric began his professional basketball career in 2009 by playing for Zrinjevac in Croatia. He played half a season there before joining Zagreb. In 2010 and 2011, Saric was nominated for the FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year award.

Saric had initially declared for the 2013 NBA Draft. However, just two days before the draft, he decided against it and stayed with Zagreb. In 2013, Saric won the Croatian National Cup and the Croatian League Championship with Zagreb and won the MVP award for the Croatian finals. Saric continued to play with Zagreb till 2016 before declaring for the draft.

Saric went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, but signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 15, 2016. He had a stellar rookie season for the 76ers. With Sixers star Embiid missing most of the season, Saric stepped in and played center and did it to a great extent. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting behind Malcolm Brogdon. Saric played two seasons for the 76ers before he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a mega deal that landed the 76ers Jimmy Butler.

Saric was benched in Minnesota in preference to Karl Anthony-Towns and was reportedly unhappy with his role. On July 6, 2019, Saric was traded to the Phoenix Suns along with the draft rights of Robert Covington.

Saric excelled as a starter with the Suns and excelled ever more as the sixth man coming off the bench. This led to him signing a three-year extension with the Suns. Saric was then traded at the trade deadline to the Oklahoma City Thunder where he was a veteran presence in the locker room. In the 2023 offseason, he signed with the Golden State Warriors, where he is playing as a backup center.

Dario Saric Salary

Dario Saric is set to earn $2,709,849 for the 2023/24 season. He was an unrestricted free agent coming into the 2023 offseason and remained that way for a very long time. When free agency was drawing to a close, Saric signed a one-year $2.7 million deal with the Golden State Warriors in the 11th hour.

While by no question this is the veteran minimum, Saric fills in a key role that has plagued the Warriors for years which is depth at the center position. Saric has fit in seamlessly with the Golden State Warriors and will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2023-24 season.
