Darius Garland is a professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He plays at the Point Guard position, is 6 feet and 1 inch tall, and weighs about 192 lbs. Garland was born on January 26, 2000, in Gary, Indiana, and attended Brentwood Academy in Tennessee. As a freshman, Garland averaged 17 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game and was also one of the finalists for the Tennessee Mr. Basketball award in 2015. He won this award thrice for the next 3 years from 2016 to 2018, and also won a McDonald’s All-American nomination in 2018.

After high school, Garland decided to join Vanderbilt University in order to pursue college basketball. He played there from 2018 to 2019 and then declared for the NBA Draft. In college, he averaged 16.2 points, 2.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. He was picked with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and averaged 12.3 points, 3.9 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game as a rookie in the league. In the 2021-22 season, Garland achieved his career-high season, as of November 2024, with 21.7 points, 8.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.3 rebounds per game.
