Chemnitz, GERMANY -- Germany started their road to the FIBA World Cup with a qualification win over the Republic of Georgia 79-70. Robin Benzing led the game for the German team with 25 points.

Michael Dixon led Georgia with 23 points and 5 assists. Georgia's shooting inside the arc proved to be a fatal flaw against the German defence, managing only 29% inside of the three-point line. Both teams were even from outside of the arc, shooting 47% each. Germany's next game is against Austria while Georgia face off against European powerhouse Serbia in Group G action.
