Doha, QATAR -- Anton Ponomarev scored 23 points in an 82-70 victory for Kazakhstan over Qatar in FIBA World Cup 2019 qualifying. Kazakhstan pulled away after Qatar led by 3 at the half.

Qatar's Adbulraman Saad led his team with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss. Qatar's terrible free throw shooting (46%) also proved to be a contributing factor in the loss. Kazakhstan's next game is against Iraq while Qatar face Iran in their next game.
