Day'Ron Sharpe is a backup center for the Brooklyn Nets. He brings solid energy off the bench with his hustle and great quickness for his size. Before joining the NBA, Sharpe began his professional basketball player journey at South Central High School in Winterville, North Carolina. As a junior, he helped South Central achieve a 30–1 record and win the NCHSAA Class 4A state title. He then transferred to Montverde Academy for his senior season, where he averaged 12.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, leading Montverde to a perfect 25–0 record. Sharpe was named McDonald's All-American and a Jordan Brand All-American, and he was a highly-rated five-star recruit.

After high school, Day'Ron Sharpe played one season at the University of North Carolina (2020–2021), where he was not only an honor student but also a noted pianist. He declared for the 2021 NBA Draft and was selected 29th overall by the Phoenix Suns. On August 6, 2021, the Suns traded Sharpe’s draft rights and Jevon Carter to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Landry Shamet, and since then Sharpe has been an important bench player for the Nets.
