His first season marked him as the vital sixth man. Schröder was trusted with coming off the bench and contributing to the team's scoring. He was part of the Thunder for 2 years of his career and was vital to the team's success coming off the bench.

After his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Schröder changed teams on a yearly basis. He was part of the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets before making a return to the Lakers. Schröder made considerable contributions in helping the Lakers secure a place in the 2022/23 playoffs.

He is currently part of the Toronto Raptors agreeing to a 2-year deal worth $26 million. Schröder is expected to fill the shoes of Fred Vanvleet.
