Dennis Schröder is a professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets. He was born in Braunschweig, Germany and was an avid skateboarding enthusiast before discovering basketball at the age of 11. He started his professional basketball journey in Germany with the Phantoms Braunschweig in 2010 and averaged 7.8 points, 2.1 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game. In 2013, Schröder was selected to play in the Nike Hoop Summit. This was also the year he decided to declare for the NBA Draft.

He was picked with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He was later sent to the NBA Development League in order to hone his skills and was later nominated for the 2015 NBA Rising Stars challenge. He showed consistent and steady improvement in his year-on-year statistics and eventually became a starter for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2015-16 season, where he started in 78 of his 79 games played and also averaged 17.9 points, 6.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. His career high season was in the 2016-17 season, where he averaged 19.4 points, 1.1 steals and 6.2 assists per game and also started in all of the 67 games that he played. In 2023-24, Schroder played for the Brooklyn Nets and averaged 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.
