Derrick Jones Jr., a small forward for the Los Angeles Clippers as of November 2024, was born on February 15, 1997. He went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. The Chester, Pennsylvania, native went to Archbishop John Carroll High School. He finished as the highest scorer in the school's history with 1,645 points, blocked 268 shots, and had 1,029 rebounds. Graduating as a four-star recruit, he joined the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2015. In his lone season, he played in 30 games with the Rebels, starting 15, averaging 11.5 points, 0.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

In 2016, Jones joined the Sacramento Kings for the Summer League after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft. Then he joined the Phoenix Suns through the training camp and also played for their NBA G affiliate, the Northern Arizona Suns. In December 2017, he signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat and their NBA G affiliate, Sioux Falls Skyforce. In 2020, he joined the Portland Trail Blazers and then the Chicago Bulls in 2021–2023. Moving on, the Dallas Mavericks for a season, joining the Los Angeles Clippers in July 2024. In his eight seasons with the NBA career, he played in 420 games, starting 163, averaging 6.7 points, 0.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds as of the 2023-24 NBA season.
