The Detroit Pistons vs Golden State Warriors matchup at the Chase Center is one of six preseason games scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13. The Pistons are looking for their third win of the preseason, while Golden State is trying to stay undefeated in four games.

Detroit made quick work of the Phoenix Suns 109-91, with Cade Cunningham dropping a near triple-double of 25 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Tobias Harris had 22 points in 27 minutes, while Jaden Ivey continued his great preseason with 16 points.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are coming off a close 109-106 win over the Sacramento Kings. They are still perfect after three preseason games and Steve Kerr still trying to find his best starting five. Steph Curry also suffered a minor finger injury that could keep him out against the Pistons as a precaution.

Detroit Pistons vs Golden State Warriors preview

The Detroit Pistons have looked good under head coach J.B. Bickerstaff with a 2-1 preseason record. They have wins over the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks. It might not mean a lot since it's the preseason, but it could help build confidence for a young team.

Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren look ready to take the next leap after a disastrous campaign last season. The Pistons fired Monty Williams after just one season, with Bickerstaff tasked to improve the team's performance on the court.

On the other hand, the Golden State Warriors have a different look with Klay Thompson not in the roster anymore. Coach Steve Kerr has been testing several starting lineups, so fans should expect him to use a different one again this Sunday.

De'Anthony Melton and Brandin Podziemski seem to be battling for the starting shooting guard spot, with Buddy Hield as the sixth man. Melton appears to be the logical choice given that he could knock down shots and defend the perimeter. Podziemski might not be a good defender, but he's a better playmaker than Melton.

Detroit Pistons vs Golden State Warriors prediction

The Warriors are the favorites to beat the Pistons, but it's the preseason so Steve Kerr is still experimenting with his lineups. J.B. Bickerstaff might also be inclined to give his starters some rest after playing them additional minutes against the Suns two days ago.

Look for Golden State to continue their hot shooting and get the easy win over the visiting Pistons. The two teams should also easily go over 217.5 points.
