Leslie Jones used to play basketball in high school and college

Before she became a prominent public figure, Jones attended high school in Lynwood, California. Despite being born in Memphis, Tennessee, she moved with her family to California when her father took a job at a radio station.

Leslie's father suggested that she play basketball since she was six feet tall. She did it and eventually became so good that she attended Chapman University in Orange, California, on a basketball scholarship.

At one point, the popular comedian even considered playing professional basketball overseas. When her head coach, Brian Berger, left Chapman, Leslie followed him to Colorado State University.
