Dillon Brooks, an american professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies, plays the position of the shooting guard in the NBA and has recently come to be noticed in the NBA for his defensive prowess and sharp tongue. Brooks was born on January 22, 1996 in Mississauga, Torono, Canada. The guard from Findlay Prep High School and Oregon was drafted as the 45th pick by the Houston Rockets in the 2017 NBA draft. Brooks was a key player for the Oregon Ducks, leading the team to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament of 2017. In this season, he was named Pac-12 player of the year and he was also named an All-American. After being drafted by Rockets, he was immediately traded to Memphis Grizzlies where he was made a starter. Brooks does not have any significant NBA records or accolades to his name but he has surely made an impact on basketball and winning for his team. Becoming more well known recently for his comments on “Poking the bear” directed at the NBA’s King, Lebron James, Dillon Brooks has suffered a lot of criticism while also being attributed for the reason as to why Lebron James was able to wipe out the Grizzlies in the 2022-23 NBA playoffs. Following their exit from the playoffs, the Grizzlies made it clear that they did not want to brin Brooks back for the next season. It is yet to be seen which teams are interested in adding Brooks o their roster and where he intends to take his talents.

Dillon Brooks has been one of the most loyal players in the NBA. He has stuck to playing for one team, the Memphis Grizzlies, throughout his career in the NBA. The Grizzlies showed faith in Brooks in the 2017 draft and acquired him through a trade from the Houston Rockets. Ever since then, Brooks has shown that he can impact the team in a positive manner as a reliable scoring option and as the main defender of the team.


It is yet to be seen whether Brooks will remain with the team that saw value in him and acquired him through trade to make him an immediate starter on the team, or if he seize the opportunity to get a sizeable contract and have another run on a championship calibre team.. It is unclear as to what Brooks is looking for in the future. The Grizzlies however, have made it clear that they have no intention in welcoming Brooks back to the team, after having caused them a great deal with his words on and off the court.
