Is Kyrie Irving married?

While details regarding Kyrie Irving's wedding are unknown, he is reportedly married to his longtime partner Marlene Wilkerson. The couple reportedly began dating in 2018 before getting engaged the following year. Irving and Wilkerson welcomed their first son in 2021 before having their second son earlier this year.

Irving referred to Wilkerson as his wife when discussing the birth of their second child, stating:

“My wife is a warrior. I’m just going to say that. Women are everything, especially after they give birth, even before they give birth, but after they give birth, you just want to give them their space to bond.

"I’ve just been playing caretaker at home. Cooking for her, making sure her feet are massaged, making sure I’m doing everything possible as a husband to make sure she’s taken care of.”

Irving also said that the couple had a home birth, as they did with their first child:

“Blessed enough to be able to catch both my sons in the bathtub. Part-time doula, part-time mid-husband, making sure my family’s good. I don’t take those moments for granted. Being able to catch my son, again, I’m honored. So natural birth, free birth, anybody doing it out there, guys, you’re my heart.

"Let’s make sure we stay to our ancient traditions, which is to catch babies. We’ve been doing it for hundreds, thousands of years, so honored to keep that legacy alive.”

Will Kyrie Irving receive a max contract?

Many have suspected that the controversy that has surrounded Kyrie Irving will prevent the Brooklyn Nets star from receiving a max contract offer. While Irving has often been in the headlines for non-basketball reasons, it is hard to envision all 30 teams viewing the risk of signing the seven-time All-Star as greater than the reward.

Irving remains among the most talented players in the league, and in a league dominated by stars, it is likely that at least one team will view him as the missing piece. While it may not be with the Nets, don't expect Kyrie to take a significant pay cut on his next contract.
