Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, Donovan Mitchell is a professional basketball player who plays shooting guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers as of March 2025. He was picked with the 13th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets and later traded to the Utah Jazz before the regular season. He averaged 20.5 points, 1.5 steals, 3.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game in his rookie year and was part of the NBA All-Rookie First team. He was given the nickname "Spida" by Al Taylor, due to his long wingspan which allowed him to perform steals and dunks according to the Akron Beacon Journal. He is a six-time NBA All-Star and also won the NBA Slam Dunk contest in 2018. He was also featured in a docuseries called 'Rookie on the Rise', which recorded his efforts to clinch the Rookie of the Year in 2017.

Donovan Mitchell joined Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut, and later transferred to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He was invited to play for the Jordan Brand Classic game at the end of his senior year. Mitchell began his collegiate basketball for the University of Louisville and averaged 15.6 points, 2.7 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game in his second year and later declared for the 2017 NBA Draft.
