On July 8, 2016, the Dallas Mavericks signed Finney-Smith after he went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. After seven seasons with the Mavs, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a deal involving Kyrie Irving. In 31 games with the Nets so far in the 2023/24 season, Finney-Smith is averaging 9.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
