Draw for FIBA U17 World Championship for Women announced

The draw ceremony for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship for women was held in Bratislava, Slovak Republic with Asian giants China and defending champions USA drawn in the same group. The championship will be held from 28 June to 6 July 2014 at Bratislava, Slovak Republic.

The 16 teams, qualified from five FIBA zones, were divided into four groups of four teams for the preliminary round, which is played in a standard round-robin format.

The USA are the two-time defending champions, having won the two previous editions of the championship. In 2010, they beat hosts France in the inaugural championship played in Rodez and Toulouse, and they then triumphed against Spain in Amsterdam, Netherlands two years ago.

2014 is the third edition of the FIBA U17 World Championship for women.
