Dru Smith is an American professional basketball player and as of December 2024, he plays shooting guard for the Miami Heat in the NBA and Sioux Falls Skyforce for the NBA G League. Smith initially began his college basketball career with the Evansville Purple Aces men's basketball team at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. As a sophomore, Smith averaged 13.7 points, 4.6 assists, and two steals per game. He later transferred to the Missouri Tigers men's basketball team at the University of Missouri during his junior season. Throughout his college basketball career, Smith averaged 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 107 games. Smith was named the MVC Most Improved Team in 2018 and the MVC All-Freshman Team selection in 2017.
Smith declared for the 2021 NBA draft but he was left undrafted. Smith then joined the Miami Heat for the 2021 NBA Summer League. Before rejoining the Heat, he played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce from 2021 to 2023, the Miami Heat in 2022, and the Brooklyn Nets along with the Long Island Nets in the NBA G League in 2023.
