Dwight Harlan Powell (born on July 20, 1991) is an expert basketball participant who belongs to Canada. He has been playing within the National Basketball Association since 2014 and presently performs for the Dallas Mavericks.

Along with the NBA, Dwight is also a member of the Canadian National team, in which plays in several international basketball championships like the Olympic Games, and the FIBA World Cup. He signed a three-year agreement with the Canadian National team in May 2022 and since then, Dwight has represented his home country in basketball championships.

Early Career

Dwight initially attended Earl Haig Secondary School in Toronto, Ontario and then moved to the United States. After moving to America, he joined the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he played basketball with the school’s team and honed his gaming skills.

After completing his graduation from IMG Academy, Dwight went to Stanford University in 2010 to pursue higher studies. He joined the college’s basketball team and continued his basketball journey which he started in his high school. After playing for around four seasons, Dwight went pro and chose to play at a professional level for which he declared for the 2014 NBA draft

NBA Career

Dwight was selected by the Charlotte Hornets on June 26, 2014, as the 45th overall selection of the NBA draft. The following month, this team traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 12, where he performed inside the NBA Summer League. On September 25, Dwight joined the Boston Celtics through a trade by his previous team.

Again, on December 18, 2014, the Boston Celtics traded him to the Dallas Mavericks, a group for which he plays now. Thereafter, he went on to represent this group in numerous basketball championships like the 2015 NBA Summer League. Dwight always felt very comfortable with this team since its joining in late 2014. In July 2019, he extended his ongoing contract with the Dallas Mavericks to get extra playtime. Dwight has again signed a contract with this team on July 9, 2023, and is playing with them in several basketball championships.
