
Emoni Bates is a basketball player who plays with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA as of March 2025. Bates started his basketball career at Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti. After freshman high school season, Bates transferred to Ypsi Prep Academy for his sophomore season. He then skipped his senior season to enrol early in college and pursue his NBA dream. However, after one season with the Memphis Tigers, Bates transferred to Eastern Michigan University. After playing two seasons in college, Bates drafted his name for the NBA draft in 2023. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Bates as the 49th overall pick and signed a two-way contract with Bates. However, Bates went through the surgery in August 2024, due to his torn meniscus.
