F23BCI Basketball Camp (January 29th, 2012)

Growing up in the USA, I had the opportunity to attend many high level Basketball camps and play under many knowledgeable Coaches during my playing career. I’ve always taken the game of Basketball seriously and approached it in an analytical manner, inspired in large part by the influence of the Coaches and players – I was fortunate enough to interact with. Those players include several players who played or currently play Professionally in the USA and internationally. I attended also camps with Coaches such as Roy Williams (University of North Carolina), Norm Stewart (University of Missouri), Don Meyer (Lipscomb University), who are among the winningest Coaches in NCAA history, as well as others. I was able to become a Coach at a USA High School for 4 years, as well as run my own summer Basketball camp, and Coach an AAU team.

I became involved in Coaching Basketball in India in 2009, and immediately enjoyed reaching out to new players, as well as the challenge of Coaching Internationally in an altogether new atmosphere. I consider my style of Basketball Coaching to be similar to the Basketball trainers who work with players from Grassroots up to Advanced level, including the trainers who help prepare potential Pro players for entry into the draft and those who help current Pro and College players improve in the off-season. Trainers such as these individuals are able to get out onto the court themselves and demonstrate techniques physically that come from them playing the game at a high level themselves. I have a degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas, as well as Certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer.

In November 2011, in an effort to contribute to the growth of the game of Basketball in India, as well as to undertake a personal challenge, I decided to start my own Indian Club Team, F23BCI (Formula 23 Basketball Club India, made up of top Indian origin players from USA/Canada and from within India itself. I have a great deal of repsect for the current Basketball Coaches in India, and I am looking forward to interacting with them and learning from them.

After spending time scouting for players in Delhi in Late December 2011/January 2012, and also holding a few Coaching Clinics, I formed the team roster and we are now preparing to enter into our first competition in the Spring, and then hopefully having the Club grow over the next few years. Our team has the current National Champion of India (TJ Sahi), as well as the National Champion of Canada (Inderbir Gill) and other Indian players who have distinguished themselves in the Game of Basketball. You can check out our roster, and follow all the updates on our Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/F23BCI.

Before I return to the USA on January 31st to report back to our Sponsor on the progress made, and to prepare for our first Tournament, I’ve decided to hold a one day Coaching Clinic that I think will be very helpful to players of all ages. The clinic will be held January 29th (Sunday) at Siri Fort Sports Complex in Delhi, India and will be run by myself and Talwinder Sahi, in my opinion the most electrifying and dynamic player in India today. I think this is a rare opportunity for players to learn from two people who understand the training methods needed to elevate you game to a higher level. I would also enjoy interacting with any Coach in India, as this Camp is only intended to promote the Game of Basketball and help the young people of India.

Any person who truly cares about the Standard of the Game of Basketball in India should be supportive and interested in our endeavor. Any player who attends the Camp is guaranteed a unique experience that is designed to help them improve their skills and teach them something they might not have known before. Again I have a great deal of repsect for all the Coaches who have come before me, and who are currently stationed in India and I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to Basketball in India the knowledge and experiences I had as a player and Coach in the USA.

If you are interested in attend our Basketball Camp, please visit our event page at:

There will be a fee of Rs.300 per player to help offset costs associated with the Camp. If any player is unable to afford the fee, I would happy to put them on Scholarship so they can attend the Camp for free and have a good learning experience for their benefit. Thank you and looking forward to putting on a great Basketball Camp that is designed to honor the Coaches of India and help the young people learn skills in the Game of Basketball.
