Debunking fan rumors about exorbitant NBA Finals tickets price

Prices for the NBA Finals tickets are always a topic of interest among fans. The 2024 NBA Finals are around the corner, with the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks one game away from the big series.

The two teams have been the most consistent in this year's playoffs and a matchup between Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving and his former team looks pretty enticing to a lot of fans.

Before the series starts, all kinds of rumors have surfaced, including one speculating about the expensive NBA Finals tickets. An X/Twitter user recently asked to confirm if the average ticket for the 2024 Finals costs $3,000.

"What’s the average ticket prices for NBA finals? Google tells me $3000 but I refuse to believe it lmao," @kindiaws wrote.

The Finals are a massive event for the NBA. Besides regular fans, many celebrities go to these games, given their importance and how they can impact the history of the league.

That said, any team with a chance to win the Larry O'Brien trophy isn't charging $3,000 to see the Finals this year. According to TicketSmarter, the Minnesota Timberwolves are charging $899.10 for a potential Game 1 at Target Center.

The Dallas Mavericks have tickets starting at $1,035 for Game 1. The Boston Celtics are currently charging $741.60 while the Indiana Pacers have a starting price of $810.00.

So no, tickets to the Finals are not $3,000 this year.

When does the 2024 NBA Finals start?

Whatever happens in the Eastern and Western Conference finals, the NBA has set the start date for the 2024 Finals. The series will start on June 6, with tip-off set at 8.30 pm ET.

There will be a three-day waiting period between matches from Game 1 through 3. Game four will be two days after the previous one while the rest of the matches will have a three-day gap.

If the series goes all the way to seven games, it'll be played on June 23.

Who will play in the 2024 NBA Finals?

As things stand right now, the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks will clash in this year's series. Both teams hold a 3-0 advantage over their respective rivals. Nobody has ever overcome this deficit in NBA history and it doesn't seem like the Pacers without Tyrese Haliburton or the Timberwolves with Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns struggling can turn things around.
