Former Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris is not related to the current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. A TikToker recently explained how the former Sixers player could cost the Democrats the upcoming presidential election later this year.

According to @yosoypabloescoball on TikTok, the Republicans should try to find out if the former Sixers player is related to the VPOTUS. Pennsylvania is a swing state, so there's a chance that some voters might not pick Kamala if they find out that she's related to Tobias.

The 32-year-old star was not popular in Philadelphia in the last few years of his stint there due to his production despite a massive contract. There were calls for him to get traded the past couple of years, but he finally left via free agency and signed with the Detroit Pistons.

It's a ridiculous proposition from the TikToker, but with the upcoming elections being important, both sides might do everything in their power to win. Tobias Harris and Kamala Harris might have the same last names, but they are unrelated.

Tobias' family is from New York, and Kamala was born and raised in California. If people want to find out about their origins, they might need to trace it back, and that might not even produce any results.

Nevertheless, people can believe fake news or even parody news on social media. Things could spread like wildfire, although research and logic should be enough to prevent it.

While Tobias Harris and Kamala Harris are unrelated, the now Detroit Pistons forward helped the then-vice presidential candidate during her campaign. Tobias appeared in a 13-minute video featuring Kamala, along with other NBA players CJ McCollum and Donovan Mitchell.

The trio of athletes encouraged voters to come to the precinct and use their rights. It was certainly effective since the Democrats won the election, with Joe Biden becoming president and Kamala as his vice president.

Tobias did ask Kamala during the campaign video what Biden would do differently than Donald Trump, who had a divisive stint as POTUS. He also told The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2020 why he chose to let his voice be heard before the elections.

"For me in the bubble, with everything going on with us, trying to really bring attention to the Breonna Taylor case," Harris said. "And to get the result that we did (none of the police officers involved in her fatal shooting was charged), it made me personally feel like we're bringing all this type of attention and we get a bad result."
