Federation Cup Basketball: IAF make it to semis

Bangalore - Indian Air Force continued their fine run in the Federation Cup basketball tournament here by maintaining their unbeaten record as they defeated Central Excise 92-82 for their third win here on Friday and booked their berth in the semi-finals from Group A.

IAF, who had opened their campaign with a shock win over defending champions Punjab Police, went on to post a 85-76 result against Vijaya Bank on Thursday night before overcoming the excisemen this morning.

Punjab Police chalked up their second win in three matches by downing Vijaya Bank 72-61 to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

Punjab Police 72 (Ranbeer Singh 22, Amritpal Singh 15, Harminder Singh 10) beat Vijaya Bank 61 (Aravind 17, Srinivas Naik 17, Basavaraj 14). Ht: 37-30.

Indian Air Force 92 (Joginder Singh 21, Praveen Kumar 21) beat Central Excise, Kerala 82 (Basil Philip 25, Manoj 14). Ht: 49-33.

Indian Air Force 85 (Narender Grewal 31, Joginder Singh 24) beat Vijaya Bank 76 (Srinivas Naik 15, Aravind 29, Basavaraj 12).

Women:

Kerala 66 (Stephy Nixon 20, Jeena 19, Poojamol 11) beat Delhi 42 (Raspreeth 29) Ht: 39-28.

South-East Central Railway 73 (Pushpa 27, Bharti 16, Aruna 14) beat Karnataka 55 (Savitha 13, Sagarika 12). Ht: 35-27.

Tamil Nadu 72 (Adhiri 19, Anitha 16, Rajapriya Darshini 13) beat Maharashtra 43 (Radhakrishnan 13). Ht: 36-28.
