FIBA Asia Cup 2012: India 71-83 Iran

The FIBA Asia Cup 2012 is underway in Japan. India lost to Iran in their opening preliminary match today. Final score was 71-83. Iran are ranked 20th in FIBA Men’s rankings to our 58. Today both teams had 22 turnovers but Iran got 24 points in transition to our 12 easy ones. Vishesh Bhriguvanshi led the way for India with 22 points and 6 assists. Amritpal Singh chipped in with 15 points. Our next match is vs Qatar tomorrow at 10:30 AM.

This is one of the younger Indian squads in this tournament. Trideep Rai and Jagdeep Singh aren’t here this time, both being the other two A ranked players in India besides Vishesh Bhriguvanshi and Yadwinder Singh.
