Iran, Korea, China and Bahrain won their respective matches of the third FIBA Asia U16 Championship (for boys) at Tehran, Iran.
East Asian powerhouse Korea thrashed South East Asian representative Thailand 118-65 in their Group B encounter. Korea took the game to their opponents from the very onset and they outscored them in four quarters 33-15, 19-17, 32-14 and 34-19 respectively.

In another match, championship favourites China eased past Syria 95-61. China took all the quarters 30-12, 23-18, 26-18 and 16-13 respectively to easily overcome the Syrian challenge in their Group A encounter.
Iran gunned down Malaysia 104-68 in their Group B encounter. The Malaysians were no match to Iran as they surrendered all the quarters 16-31, 24-26, 14-17 and 14-30 respectively.
In the last match of the day, Bahrain beat Hong Kong 85-60 in their Group A encounter. Bahrain took all four quarters 19-16, 22-19, 17-9 and 26-16 to easily win the match.
14 countries qualified from different sub-zones of FIBA Asia to fight for continental honours.
