China and Japan entered the final of the final of the 3rd FIBA ASIA U16 Championship for women while South Asian representative India remain in the Level 1 of the FIBA ASIA U16 Championship for Women.
China defeated Korea 81-55 and Japan defeated ChineseTaipei 99-60 in the all East Asian Semifinal to enter the final of the 3rd FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women held at Colombo, Srilanka. With the entry to the final of the championship, both Japan and China book their ticket to the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women to be held at Bratislava, Slovak Republic from 10-20 July 2014.
In the first semifinal, China took the first three quarters 22-18, 19-13 & 28-8 to demolish Koreans and enter the final. Despite Koreans taking the last quarter 17-12, it was too late to stop China. H. Wang netted 19 points for China while H. An top scored with 19 points for Korea.

In the second semifinal, Chinese Taipei were no match to the defending champions Japan as the Japanese girls took the first three quarters 23-11, 34-13 & 25-16 to lay their foundation for win. Chinese Taipei took the last quarter 20-17, but could not stop Japan to enter the final of the championship.
China will face Japan in final while Korea will play Chinese Taipei for bronze and lost importantly for a single remaining spot for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women.
Meanwhile, India defeated Kazakhstan 84-71 to remain in the Level 1 of the FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women. India took the first quarter 20-14 while Kazakhstan took the second quarter 22-16. After the break, India took the remaining two quarters 26-15 & 22-20 to win the match and remain in the Level 1 of the championship. Ritu Verma netted game high 24 points for india while A. Arzamastseva netted 21 points for Kazakhstan.
In another qualifying match, Thailand edge past neighbors Malaysia 59-39 to climb up to the Level 1 of the Championship. With the loss, Malaysia is relegated to Level 2 of the championship. Bunsinprom and Siripuntham netted 15 points each for Thailand while K. Khoi netted 10 points for Korea.
The final and the bronze medal match will be played on November 30, 2013. Japan us the defending champions of the FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women.
