Adelaide, AUSTRALIA-- Daniel Kickert score 22 points and 7 rebounds in the win for the Australian team against Japan. Makoto Hiejima scored 17 points for the Japanese in the loss. Japan's 22% shooting from the three-point line was what Australia needed after they were shooting 50% from the free throw line.

Philippines 90, Chinese Taipei 83
Quezon, PHILIPPINES-- Jayson Castro William accumulated 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in the win over Chinese Taipei. Quincy Spenser Davis III came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. Andray Maurice Blatche pulled down 14 rebounds. The Philippine defense was stellar with 10 blocks against Chinese Taipei's 1.

Tehran, IRAN-- The Islamic Republic of Iran came away with a dominating victory over Qatar in group play action. Arsalan Kazemi dominated the boards with 17 rebounds for the Iranians while Abdulrahman Saad led the way for Qatar with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams shot poorly from the three-point line, IR Iran shooting 19% and Qatar 10%. ONe of the biggest edges for IR Iran was their rebounding, 51-32.
Kazakhstan 82, Iraq 76 (OT)
Astana, KAZAKHSTAN-- This game went to overtime when both teams committed a late foul in the final minute of the game, allowing it to be tied. Anatoliy Koleznikov of Kazakhstan led his team with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Hassan Abdullah produced 27 points and 4 rebounds for Iraq.

Nizhny Novgorod, RUSSIA-- Dmitrii Kulagin scored 10 points and 9 assists in the close 5 point win at home against Belgium. Jean Salumu scored 17 points for the Belgians. Russia's 88% from the free throw line helped matters after Belgium only shot 43% from the charity stripe.
France 84, Bosnia-Herzegovina 65
Rouen, FRANCE-- The French team, led by Louis Labeyrie's 13 points and 7 rebounds, win at home against a surging Bosnian squad, led by Milan Milosevic's 15 points. France knew to pass the ball around by out-assisting Bosnia 22-14.

Czech Republic 64, Finland 56
Helsinki, FINLAND-- An early back and forth battle was won by the Czech Republic after halftime with an 8 point victory over the home team Finnish squad. Ondrej Balvin led the Czechs with 8 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists. Shawn Huff of Finland led his team with 13 points and 3 rebounds. The Czech Republic beat Finland on the boards with a 44-37 rebounding edge for their second win of the tournament.
Bulgaria 77, Iceland 74
Reykjavik, ICELAND-- Bulgaria held on to a win over the home team Icelandic squad. Martin Hermansson's 21 points weren't enough to pull off the victory against Bulgaria, led by Stanimir Marinov's 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Bulgaria overcame their 29% shooting from behind the arc to pull off the victory.

Serbia 105, Georgia 87
Belgrade, SERBIA-- Miroslav Raduljica dominated for Serbia with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the home team's win over Michael Dixon's 36 points and 9 assists for the Republic of Georgia. Both teams shot fairly well, with Serbia pulling away with the 18 point win and a 2-0 record heading to February's match with Germany.
Germany 90, Austria 49
Schwechat, AUSTRIA-- The German squad was clearly the dominant team in their 41 point win against Austria. Johannes Thiemann of Germany pulled off a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Rasid Mahalbasic was the top player for the Austrians with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Germany dominated almost all of the team categories except for blocks, Austria 2-1.

Greece 82, Israel 61
Heraklion, GREECE-- Greece followed up their OT win against Great Britain with a home win against Israel to improve to 2-0 in the group. Despite outrebounding the Greeks 46-30, Israel fell short after shooting 22% from three-point range. Vangelis Margaritis was the top player for Greece with 8 points and 8 steals while Richard Howell led Israel with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Estonia 73, Great Britain 70
Tallinn, ESTONIA-- Estonia held off a British comeback attempt to win by 3. Martin Paasoja led Estonia with 15 points and 6 rebounds while Myles Messon led Great Britain with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Britain's shooting inside of the arc proved to be critical in the loss to Estonia, shooting 34% compared to Estonia's 53 % inside the arc.

Brazil 72, Venezuela 60
Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL-- Anderson Varejao pulled down a double-double for Brazil with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the win in the all South American group. Edwin Mijares countered for Venezuela with 16 points. Venezuela's 36% free throw shooting was the biggest problem in the game for the Venezuelans.
Chile 74, Colombia 69
Medellin, Colombia-- Colombia's 26% from the three-point line wasn't any match for Chile's 58% from the same line. Suarez for Chile scored 20 in the win, part of 3 Chilean players in double figures compared to the 4 Colombian players in the same range. Colombia's 10 team steals wasn't enough to counter Chile's 42 rebounds.

Dominican Republic 88, Canada 76
Santiago de los Caballeros, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC-- Rigoberto Mendoza led the Dominican Republic with 25 points and 5 rebounds in a 12 point victory against Canada at home. The Canadians were led by Philip Scrubb with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Dominicans were dominant in the steal category, 14-5.
US Virgin Islands 93, Bahamas 85
Nassau, BAHAMAS-- Geogrio Milligan's 18 points and 4 rebounds were enough for the US Virgin Islands to pick up an important road win in group play against the Bahamas and Jaraun Burrows' 18 points and 8 rebounds. Bahamas' 54% from the charity stripe turned to be crucial in the loss against the US territory.
