Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL-- Anderson Varejao pulled down a double-double for Brazil with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the win in the all South American group. Edwin Mijares countered for Venezuela with 16 points. Venezuela's 36% free throw shooting was the biggest problem in the game for the Venezuelans.

Chile 74, Colombia 69
Medellin, Colombia-- Colombia's 26% from the three-point line wasn't any match for Chile's 58% from the same line. Suarez for Chile scored 20 in the win, part of 3 Chilean players in double figures compared to the 4 Colombian players in the same range. Colombia's 10 team steals wasn't enough to counter Chile's 42 rebounds.
