Gabe VIncent currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers after playing his previous four seasons with the Miami Heat. Last season, Vincent stepped up during the NBA playoffs and helped the Heat reach the NBA finals. Miami is known for picking up some of the best undrafted basketball players and honing them into great talents. The same happened for Vincent. He went undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft and signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings but was waived from the team.

Vincent spent some time in the NBA G-League and played for the Stockton Kings from 2018-2020. He showed flashes of his true potential by scoring 35 points in two games in December of 2019. In his second season with the Kings, Vincent went from averaging 8.8 points (in his first season) to 23.4 points and was shooting the three ball at 41.2 percent and 46.9 percent from the field.

After spending two seasons in the G-league, the Heat signed VIncent to a two-way contract. After the Heat lost to the Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals, Vincent was offered a standard contract by the Heat. He averaged 4.8 points on 37.8 percent shooting from the field.

Last season, after the Heat struggled to win for the entire season, they made the play-in tournament but lost to the Atlanta Hawks and lost the 7th seed. Their reward for being the 8th seed? To play the Milwaukee Bucks in the very first round. The Heat defeated the Bucks, beat the Knicks, and took out the Celtics to advance to the NBA Finals but lost to the Nuggets.

He was one of the most essential pieces in the Miami Heat roster and always stepped up during playoffs.

Gabe Vincent’s Trade

Vincent was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers this off-season and it primarily boiled down to the business side of the contract. Had the Heat offered a better offer to Vincent, he would have stayed with the Heat but with the Lakers offering more money to him, the deal was too sweet for him to reject. The Miami Heat reportedly offered Vincent a four-year $34 million contract. Meanwhile, the Lakers offered him a three-year $33 million deal.

Keeping in mind that Vincent is a solid player in the NBA but not a star, it makes a lot of sense for him to be rational since he would be a role player for any team across the NBA. Whereas for Vincent, his move to the Lakers was ideal because of the bigger contract and also the fact that California is his home.

So far Vincent has had an underwhelming start as a Laker, averaging 6.0 points on a measly .071 shooting from three point range and 39.3 percent from the field.

Gabe Vincent’s Position

Vincent plays as a point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. While he has had an extremely rough start to his Laker career, he has only played four games. There is still a lot of time to turn things around and perform better. The Lakers are currently 6-6 in the Western Conference and Vincent is out due to a left knee effusion.

Gabe Vincent’s team

VIncent currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, after having played with the Miami Heat for his first four seasons. He has only played four games so far, this season and is currently sitting out because of a knee injury. Once he returns to the court, he will have to turn things around soon as the Lakers are the 8th seed and have been struggling against the better teams in the NBA.
