Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are one of the most iconic franchises in NBA history. While contributing to changing the game of basketball as a whole, they have also won multiple championships in their glorious history.

The Dubs acquired superstar veteran point guard Chris Paul in a massive trade this offseason. While there are questions pertaining to how Paul will fit with the Splash Brothers, in the eyes of the Warriors fans, it is a statement. It is a statement that the Warriors will go to any extent to ensure that their core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green keeps fighting for championships.

Let us take a look at all their championships in the modern era.

Golden State Warriors Championships

The Warriors have won seven championships in their history. Everything about the Golden State Warriors begins and ends with Stephen Curry. It was in the 2014/15 season that the franchise superstar had his breakout season, dazzling the crowd with his wide array of handles and incredible shooting ability. Along with Klay Thompon, Draymond Green and newly anointed head coach Steve Kerr, the Warriors ended the regular season with 67 wins, the best in the NBA that season.

In the playoffs, they showed why they were the best team in the league. In the first round, the Warriors swept Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. They then faced a stiffer challenge in the next round, going up against the ‘Grit-and-grind’ Memphis Grizzlies. After going 2-1 down with game 4 on the road, the Warriors mustered up their championship mentality and won the next three games, putting them in their first conference finals for the first time in nearly 40 years.

Here, they faced James Harden and the Houston Rockets, who they defeated in five games to set up a date with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. With the Cavs being banged up, everyone expected the Warriors to win and that’s what happened. They beat the Cavs in six games to claim their first championship in nearly 47 years.

2016-17 Championship

The bitter taste of losing in the Finals the previous year was still fresh in the minds of the Golden State Warriors. Adding Kevin Durant, the team got some much-needed ammo and they were ready to fire on all cylinders. They breezed through the regular season yet again, winning 67 games, and were geared for the real deal, the playoffs.

The Warriors won their first 12 games of the playoffs, completing three sweeps, a mammoth achievement, and set up the trilogy matchup with the Cavs, which they won in five games.

2017-18 Championship

With the championship last year, everyone expected some championship hangover from the Warriors. But that was not the case, they won 58 games, good for second in the West only behind Houston and fate would have it that they would meet in the conference finals. And it was a conference finals for the ages, a back-and-forth affair culminating in an incredible game 7 which the Warriors eventually took.

Facing the Cavs for the fourth year in a row in the Finals, the Warriors made it a no-contest sweeping the Cavs and winning their third title in four years.

2021-22 Championship

After years of heartbreak and agony, losing Kevin Durant in free agency and Klay Thompson to an ACL and achilles injury, everyone wrote the Warriors off and claimed that their dynasty was over. However, Steph Curry and the Warriors had other plans as they bounced back with a bang, securing the third seed in the West and beating the Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Mavericks on their way to play the Celtics in the Finals.

Here, Curry put rest to all the doubters proclaiming his Finals performance has been subpar by putting the team on his back and winning the Finals series in six games. The Warriors lifted their fourth championship in eight years.
