The Golden State Warriors, already assured of a seat in the next round of the Emirates NBA Cup, face the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Although they have punched a ticket to the quarterfinal, the Warriors will look to snap out of a season-high four-game losing streak and will be going for a win in Denver.
The Nuggets can keep their flickering hopes alive for a wildcard berth if they win against the Warriors. A victory versus Steph Curry and Co. does not guarantee them a slot in the knockout. Denver will also need fellow West Group C teams Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans to lose.

Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets: Key matchups
Nikola Jokic vs Draymond Green
If cleared to play, Draymond Green will guard Nikola Jokic in crucial situations. Kevon Looney and Trayce Jackson-Davis will have their shot at the reigning MVP, but it will be the Green-Jokic matchup that will be riveting.
Jokic is the unquestioned frontrunner in the MVP race yet again. He is averaging 29.6 points, 13.2 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game.
To stop Denver, Green must slow down The Joker.
Steph Curry vs. Jamal Murray or Christian Braun
Steph Curry is probable, but if he’s cleared to play, Denver’s defense will unsurprisingly focus on the two-time MVP. Christian Braun is the Nuggets’ best perimeter defender, so his main task will be to contain Curry. The Warriors, as they often do, use screens to free Curry from the opposing team’s best defender.
Against the Nuggets, the Dubs will likely look for their franchise cornerstone to go up against Jamal Murray. Steve Kerr likes this matchup for his point guard and might continue going that way.
Murray isn’t known for his defense but has no choice but to step up. The Nuggets need him to contribute on the defensive end to have a chance of extending their Emirates NBA Cup campaign.
