The Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers lock horns on Wednesday to tip off their 2024-25 NBA season. The Warriors enter this season in the hopes of making the playoffs after finishing in the lottery last year, while the Trail Blazers will continue their rebuild into their second year after the Damian Lillard era.
The Warriors are coming off a highly successful preseason, where they went unbeaten in six outings. The new additions like Buddy Hield, DeAnthony Melton and Kyle Anderson have seamlessly fit into the Warriors' complex schemes, giving the franchise some fresh life ahead of the new season after two lean years.
Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers also impressed with a 3-1 run in preseason. Rookie Donovan Clingan has seemingly drawn some eyeballs, averaging 20.5 points, 16.4 rebounds and 4.7 blocks on 51.5% shooting. The Trail Blazers enter Wednesday's game as the underdogs, but if Clingan manages to replicate his preseason success, the undersized Warriors could face some adversity.
