The Golden State Warriors vs Washington Wizards matchup is one of the 15 NBA games scheduled for Monday. All teams will be in action today as there’s no game scheduled for Tuesday when the U.S. goes to vote to choose its next president.
Golden State is off to a 5-1 start and is third in the West. It is on a three-game winning streak. What’s more impressive is that the Warriors were without their leader Steph Curry in those three games. Washington, meanwhile, is ninth in the East with a 2-3 record.
The two teams have played each other 204 times in the regular season, with Golden State holding a 118-86 lead. They met twice last season, as the Warriors swept the series. Their most recent meeting was on Feb. 27, a game that Golden State won 123-112 behind former Warrior Klay Thompson’s 25 points. Kyle Kuzma led Washington with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Golden State Warriors vs Washington Wizards preview
The Warriors have gotten off to a great start despite an ankle injury to Steph Curry. Golden State won all its preseason games and lost just one in the regular season so far. The loss came against the LA Clippers as Curry exited the game early in the final quarter.
While many expected the Warriors to have a great defense, nobody expected them to be elite. They currently have a 101.0 defensive rating, the second-best in the league. They also have the third-best offensive rating at 118.6.
Golden State most recently defeated the Houston Rockets 127-121 in overtime on Saturday. Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga led the team off of the bench with 27 and 23 points, respectively.
The Wizards are coming off of a 118-98 blowout win against the Miami Heat on Saturday. Bilal Coulibaly had 22 points and eight rebounds, while Jordan Poole had 21 points. Washington is in the midst of a rebuild and is unlikely to contend against a revamped Warriors squad.
The team is also dealing with injuries to key players such as Kyle Kuzma and Malcolm Brogdon, which further complicates matters.

Golden State Warriors vs Washington Wizards prediction
The Warriors are the heavy favorites despite being on the road. Steph Curry could be back as well, which only makes it tougher for Poole and Co. Expect Golden State to cover the spread for a win in a high-scoring game where the team total should surpass 231.5 points.
