Junior Hannah Stuelke led the No. 22 Iowa Hawkeyes as they concluded an eventful trip to Cancun with a dominant 68-48 win over the BYU Cougars on Friday night.
The forward scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists to help Iowa secure a 20-point victory. The win handed BYU its second loss and kept Iowa's record unblemished at 8-0.

The Hawkeyes started strong, leading 16-10 after the first quarter, and maintained that six-point lead in the second quarter despite scoring only nine points. After a nearly three-minute scoring drought, Stuelke hit a baseline jumper at the buzzer, giving Iowa a 25-19 lead at halftime, with Stuelke contributing 11 points.

The Hawkeyes then exploded offensively in the second half, scoring 43 points. Stuelke continued her impressive play, notching her 14th point with a second triple late in the third quarter.
Point guard Lucy Olsen remained sidelined with a knee injury.
"Without Lucy, I had to step up a little bit more," Stuelke said.
"It was just a mindset. We came out, played great, and I'm really proud of us," she added.
Stuelke and the Hawkeyes now look ahead to the Big Ten schedule, beginning with a matchup against Tennessee at Barclays Center in Brooklyn as part of the Women’s Champion Classic. The game is set for 6:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, airing on FOX.
Iowa perseveres without Lucy Olsen
Lucy Olsen, Iowa’s leading scorer at 17.3 points per game, missed her second consecutive game due to a knee injury. Despite her absence, the Hawkeyes secured two critical wins.
"I'm so happy for the win because of the adversity without Lucy Olsen," coach Jan Jensen via Rivals.com.
"Weathering not having your leader, captain, and still finding a way to win ... I'm just happy."
The defense has stepped up for Iowa, as BYU shot just 5-of-25 in the first half, allowing Iowa to build a 25-16 halftime lead. BYU became the fifth team Iowa has held under 60 points this season and the second held under 50.
However, Iowa struggled with turnovers, committing 16 in the first half and 23 overall, following a 22-turnover performance against Rhode Island on Thursday. Still, the Hawkeyes improved in the second half, committing just seven turnovers.
Iowa shot 24-of-51 (47.1%) from the floor and 11-of-23 (47.8%) from three-point range. They outrebounded BYU 37-28, securing 78.4% of defensive rebounds and 28.6% of offensive rebounds.
