Has Carmelo Anthony retired? NBA legend posts new video on Twitter account

Carmelo Anthony has retired from the NBA. After 19 years in the professional basketball league, the 6-foot-7 forward has decided to move on and put an end to his amazing career.

Anthony last played for the LA Lakers in the 2021-22 season. Despite being one of the greatest scorers of his generation, the forward was never able to win a championship. However, he achieved many other accolades during his time in the league.

"The time has come for me to say goodbye," Anthony said in a heartfelt video posted on his Twitter profile.

Carmelo Anthony thanked his fans for supporting him throughout his career. He also said that his legacy continues to live through his son, Kiyan Anthony.

Carmelo Anthony was an unstoppable scorer

Anthony played for six teams during his NBA career, but he is best known for his time with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. He was arguably the most gifted scorer of the 2003 NBA Draft class, which says a lot about him.

Melo led the league in scoring in the 2012-13 season with 28.7 points per game. His career-high in points was 62, and he also had a 33-point quarter. In 19 years, Anthony earned 10 All-NBA and six All-Star selections.

"But now the time has come for me to say goodbye," Anthony said in his retirement video. "To the court where I made my name, to the game that gave me purpose and pride."

The former NBA All-Star was thankful for his fans and all the places he's played in. During his 19-year career, Melo played for six different teams, including the Knicks, who are located in the biggest market.

Besides his popularity and success in the NBA, Anthony was also celebrated in international basketball. The legendary forward won three Olympic gold medals with the United States, as well as a bronze medal after his rookie season.

The last NBA team Carmelo Anthony played for was the LA Lakers. Despite a limited role on the team, he still found ways to contribute by averaging 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

In 19 years in the league, Melo averaged 22.5 points per game. Despite never winning a championship, the legendary player will go down as one of the best pure scorers in the league's history.
