“He failed at owning a team” – Colin Cowherd belittles Michael Jordan’s business acumen comparing him with LeBron James

Michael Jordan is one of the most successful players to play at the NBA level. Throughout his illustrious career as a player, Jordan never lost when it came to playing in the NBA Finals.

His ability as an NBA owner hasn't brought forth the same success. In 2006, Jordan became part-owner of the Charlotte Hornets organization. At the time, the Hornets were known as the "Bobcats." Four years later, Jordan upped the stakes, becoming the majority owner of the Hornets.

Throughout his playing career, MJ was known as one of the league's most ruthless competitors. Unfortunately for Jordan, that same competitiveness hasn't created an advantage when it comes to creating success off the court.

Speaking on Fox Sports Radio, Cowherd talked about how Michael Jordan's time as an owner has been a failure. Cowherd spoke about how Jordan, as a player, was a bit selfish and demanded better of his teammates. That was before he said that the same mentality cannot make a successful owner.

Cowherd also compared Jordan to LA Lakers superstar LeBron James, saying that James makes everybody that plays with him better compared to Jordan.

"The best owners and the best coaches, and the best executives are about elevating others ... Michael is great at elevating Michael," Cowherd said.

"But LeBron ... that's where these two aren't remotely close. Everybody that plays with him, everybody is better."

Michael Jordan reportedly looking to sell majority ownership stake in Charlotte Hornets

Michael Jordan is apparently looking to sell his ownership stake in the Charlotte Hornets.

The writing has seemed to be on the wall for years over Michael Jordan's time as an NBA owner.

For years, Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets have attempted to get the Charlotte Hornets back on the right track. But the Hornets continue to take the next steps forward in their re-building process.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Jordan is in "serious talks" to sell his majority stake to a group led by Hornets minority owner Gabe Plotkin. Atlanta Hawks minority owner Rick Schnall is also expected to be apart of the group.

According to Wojnarowski, Jordan still intends to have a minority ownership stake in the Hornets. For one of the greatest players to ever compete at the NBA level, Jordan's time as an owner has been just the opposite.
