Walker Kessler’s Early Basketball and NBA championship aspirations

Georgia-born Kessler started his basketball journey with Woodward Academy in the vicinity. With the help of his towering presence on the court, Kessler quickly became the main player in the team. In his senior year, Kessler had an average of 17.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per game. With such unprecedented stats, Walker led the team to their first-ever state championship and became eye candy for the Georgia team.

Winner of multiple individual accolades, Walker Kessler went to North Carolina University. The five-star recruit lived up to the expectations and started with a bang, scoring 16 points with 12 rebounds and 8 blocks in the debut game. He holds the block’s record as a freshman for the team and the AAC tournament. After 29 games in the first season, Kessler averaged 4 points and 3.2 rebounds for the team.

He later joined Auburn. Defensively elite and strong near the rim area, Walker Kessler quickly broke records at the national level while playing for the Auburn team. Kessler was regarded as one of the nation's premier shot blockers, setting the Auburn single-season block record, and leading the nation in blocks.

His shot-blocking ability, rebounding prowess, and versatile skills were instrumental in helping his team succeed.

NBA Draft and Professional Aspirations

Although he is yet to win the NBA championship ring, the gifted star has shown tremendous potential to reach his ultimate goal. However, it is important to note that as of the current date, Walker Kessler has yet to play in the NBA playoffs and thus has not earned an NBA championship ring. Looking at his current progress, the 7-footer star has shown great potential and thirst for the wins.

Winner of SEC, Naismith and NBAC Defensive Player of the Year award, Walker Kessler was expected to be one of the top draft picks in the 2022 NBA draft. But he had to wait till the 22nd pick. The Memphis Grizzlies selected him in the draft but due to the presence of Jarren Jackson Jr. he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Jake LaRavia.

After moving to Minnesota Timberwolves, and even before playing a single game for either of the franchises, he was traded to Utah Jazz. Moving to the rebuilding Utah team benefitted Walker Kessler, as he got more game time and a chance to display his potential.

He had a career-high 20 points and 21 rebounds game against Minnesota Timberwolves in January 2023. The youngster was instrumental in Jazz’s development into potential title contenders. Kessler was 2nd runners up in the Rookie of the Year award underlining his impressive start to the NBA career.
