Emoni Bates is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. He played two seasons of college basketball for University of Memphis and Eastern Michigan University before declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.
After being drafted 49th overall, Bates signed a two-way contract with the Cavs. Under the terms of the deal, he splits time between the Cavaliers and their NBA G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge.
In his first NBA season in 2023/24, Bates has played sparingly for the Cavaliers. Through the first 10 games, he is averaging just 7.6 minutes per game in a limited role off the bench. He is still adjusting to the speed and physicality of the NBA.
