Anyone who has been following or kept tabs on High School Basketball knows exactly who Dillon Mitchell is. An athlete with one of the best handles and athleticism in the High School and College Basketball scene who was a consensus five-star recruitment before his commitment to Texas in 2021. Now a contributing factor for the Texas Longhorns, his name is a topic of debate among Texas fans and experts who talk about his physical potential and key attributes as a Basketball player including his height.

Dillon Mitchell’s Height

Mitchell stands around 6 feet 8 inches tall, making him a valuable asset to his team as someone who can play both inside and outside positions effectively. A Basketball player’s height is a crucial attribute because it is the sole physical characteristic which forms the basis for other important attributes about the player which we will look into below.

The taller and better a player is, the more focus and popularity he tends to attract towards his game.

Dillon Mitchell’s other Physical Characteristics

Physically, Mitchell has impressive attributes beyond just his height. His near 7 feet wingspan makes him an ideal rim protector with impressive rebounding ability, making him a defensive asset for the team. His agility and athleticism also help him to move quickly on the court and jump high for shots or blocks.

Responsibilities of a Small Forward

One of the primary responsibilities of a young small forward in college basketball is scoring points for their team. This involves being able to shoot accurately from all ranges – whether it is three-pointers or mid-range jump shots – as well as finishing at the rim with strong layups or dunks.

Despite averaging about five points per game this past season, Dillon maintained an impressive 63% shooting from the field which even consistent scorers fail to reach.

Another crucial responsibility is rebounding. It is essential for any good team to have dominant rebounders because it allows them to gain possession and create more opportunities on offense. Dillon managed to average only four rebounds per game which isn’t a good show for a 6’8” forward.

Small forwards also have defensive duties which include guarding opposing perimeter players like point guards or shooting guards while at other times defending post-up players who may be stronger than they are but have less agility so using quick lateral movements can help guard against them effectively.

Dillon did not put up good numbers on the defensive end as well, averaging 0.6 steals and 0.3 blocks per game.

Overall, Dillon Mitchell appears poised to have a successful career with the Texas Longhorns, but only if he continues to work on his key areas of improvement such as rebounding, scoring, and steals. Dillon can be a great asset for NBA teams from a long-term perspective but that’s only possible if his subsequent seasons with Texas are better.
