Another promising talent in this year’s NBA Draft is the 6 foot 9 inch power forward Trayce Jackson-Davis from the University of Indiana. Jackson-Davis started playing basketball at a very young age. It is highly likely that he picked up the sport from his biological father, Dale Davis, who played in the NBA for nearly 17 seasons.
Jackson-Davis has put together four good seasons of college basketball during his time with the Indiana Hoosiers. He had a personal best season in 2022 during his senior year where he averaged a double-double with 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.9 blocks per game. His overall performance has really helped make a strong case for him in the upcoming draft.
For a player of his size he is extremely quick on the floor and is able to transition quickly from one end to the other. He seems to have inherited his father’s genes as he is also athletically and physically gifted just like Dale Davis. It will be exciting to see what he will bring to the NBA in a few months time.
Trayce Jackson-Davis’s height
Trayce Jackson-Davis is 6 feet 9 inches tall, which is around the average for a power forward in the NBA. While coming up against shorter players, Jackson-Davis will no doubt have an advantage with his longer reach. However, taller opponents could pose some concerns for him, especially some of the bigger centers in the game. Yet, one advantage he brings to his game is his speed and agility.
On the offensive side of the ball, he has a good height to grab the loose rebounds or to tip back the shots. From his college days, he has shown tremendous ability to finish at the rim and throw down some monstrous dunks. In fact, over the course of the 2022 season, he finished with 73 dunks. Additionally, if stuck in traffic, his height will allow him to make passes over shorter players.
If we turn our attention to defense, Jackson-Davis is a block machine. A lot of this is also down to his incredible 7’2 wingspan. He will tend to find himself in the mix for grabbing defensive boards and it will be difficult for opponents to pass over him.
